Felt Pincushions - $35 plus $8 materials fee
Saturday, March 21 from 11:30-1:30
Pretty and practical, these felt pincushions will add a bit of color and inspiration to your sewing space. These little poufs of felt come together quickly, so they make great gifts or favors. Recreate an old-school tomato pincushion or decorate with your favorite flower and color scheme. Each pincushion is finished on the bottom with a button to add a bit of weight and style. During this two-hour make-and-take session, we will demonstrate how to form three flowers from felt: roses, pansies, fruit blossoms (apple, cherry, dogwood, beach plum, etc.).
A $8 fee to the instructor (payable at the class) will cover the cost of a pattern and instructions, thread, stuffing and felt (wool and wool blends in assorted colors) to create two pincushions. An assortment of vintage buttons will be available to finish the bottom of your pincushion, or bring some buttons from your own collection. This class is suitable for beginners and will provide practice in the following basic skills:
-
Using a pattern
-
Using a needle and thread
-
Simple hand sewing techniques (whip stitch, simple embroidery embellishments)
-
Stuffing and closing a form
-
Attaching a button
The instructor, Megan Secatore, has been crafting and knitting for more than 40 years and believes that we all need more space in our lives for community, fun and creation. Visit https://reclaimingmytimeshop.patternbyetsy.com/ for more information.
